Building a Solid Foundation in the Community with YORS
It’s all about building future value today
Radec is committed to helping people to empower themselves, and we believe it starts with the youth in our community. We understand that in teaching our youth to “unplug” and engage in outdoor activity, we’re helping to shape their future. That’s why we support the Youth Outdoor Recreation Society (Y.O.R.S.), a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to promote community integration, relationship building, and life-skills development through outdoor recreation. In doing so, they help youth develop and nurture their physical, emotional and intellectual selves while enhancing their relationship and confidence in the surrounding natural environment.
The RADEC Santa Rec Run
November 24th, 2018
RADEC teamed up with the run’s founding company, Hoodoo Adventure to raise $2,380 for the Youth Outdoor Recreation Society (Y.O.R.S.). Two hundred and thirty five runners participated in the 7th annual RADEC Santa Rec Run on Saturday, November 24. We donated forty cut-out 4 foot snowmen and candy canes for the children to paint and decorate days before the event. We felt that since the Santa Run is for the children, we wanted them to feel like an integral part of this event and to be proud that their creations are lit up and seen by all. All participants received blue RADEC running gloves and visited our warm-up tent where we served hot chocolate and cookies donated by Canada Safeway in Penticton. It really was a lot of fun and we look forward to doing it again next year!
The Freak’n Farmer
September 22nd, 2018
Adults and kids alike had a great time at the Freakn’ Farmer obstacle course race at Covert Farms in Oliver. We also built and donated a challenging obstacle segment to be a permanent fixture in the race. This bucket list-worthy event was a whole lot of fun and we hope to see you there in 2019.
